My first wedding dress was an exhilarating experience!

What I loved the most were the weekly meetings with the bride-to-be. I sewed the dress for free since it was a learning process and she was marrying into our family. I used a corset pattern with a folded, removable skirt, revealing a beautifully beaded dress beneath later in the evening. It involved repeatedly watching, reversing, and making sense of the tutorials, but my determination paid off—the skirt fit perfectly! I couldn't have dreamed of making this without the Dressmaking Academy tutorials.

I never imagined using a Dressmaking Academy pattern for a musical theatre dance costume, but the results were stunning! Starting with a normal leotard pattern, I created a flesh-colored lycra leotard and overlayed it with a corset pattern featuring channels on mesh, without boning, to allow flexibility for dance movements like walkovers. I carefully stitched the cups onto the leotard several times to achieve a neat finish. The dancer absolutely loved the stunning final result!

After making my daughter's matric dance dress using Dressmaking Academy's corset tutorials, the dress received so much attention that I couldn't help but brag about Dressmaking Academy!

In 2024, I received many dress requests, completing eight dresses, each within a week. The last dress featured a corset pattern with a straight neckline, two curves, and a flared skirt with rows of gathered tulle. It was easier than expected, and I was thrilled with the result. I'm so thankful to Dressmaking Academy—I exclusively use your patterns and am obsessed! This year, I've agreed to make another eight dresses and will definitely be tagging Dressmaking Academy!

I created another beautiful dress using the "wedding dress with open shoulders" tutorial. The fabric was delicate mesh covered with glass beads, which required removing beads along the seam allowance before stitching with a zipper foot. Although I had to redo the back for the fabric to lie flat, I learned so much through the process! The skirt was crafted from a bell skirt pattern, with the center back extended to a wider flare from the middle down.

Thank you again, @Dressmaking Academy, for your amazing tutorials!
